Sal Rainone

Sal Rainone was born in Brooklyn, to Margaret and Nicola Rainone, immigrants from the Napoli region of Italy. The Rainones owned and operated the Rainone Pastry Shoppe on Gold Street, a neighborhood of Italian immigrants. "As a young boy, I became a slave but a happy slave" recalls Sal, as he remembers his childhood experiences in working in the bakery. Margaret and Nicola were constantly singing. They would take a lunch break, eat something and start singing. The songs were all love songs -- people sang about things that meant somethingto them, or about their hometowns. Sal quickly developed an interest in music, through his family, an interest that was to develop into a career. He learned to play piano and guitar and all aspects of band music, arranging and composing. Sal credits his family background as critical to his career. As a fine professional tenor, pianist, guitarist, and entertainer, he sings in fourteen (14) languages, including French, Italian, Spanish, and Yiddish. He has appeared with Anthony Quinn and Claire Bloom in Tennesse William's "Red Devil Sign" and has been featured on RCA Records, Columbia Records and numerous movie soundtracks, including the movie "Model Behavior". He is a recent music industry platinum record holder. Sal has been a popular Long Island club singer for many years, as well as doing the Manhattan, New York State and Las Vegas entertainment circuit. His latest CD, "CLASSIC THEME", emphasizes the kind of romantic, multilingual Ballad and Easy Listening style that admiring and enthusiastic audiences have come to expect from Sal Rainone.
